Two Minute Review of the Sheraton Suites San Diego

I’ve stayed at many amazing hotels over the years, but since most of my regular travel is for work, I often end up staying at more “everyday” properties. While these aren’t properties you’re going to dream of visiting on vacation, I thought I would start to share my experiences, just in case they might be helpful for other trips. Nothing too crazy though – just a “two minute review”.

Room

As the name would suggest, the Sheraton Suites San Diego is an all-suite property – which means no worrying about whether or not you’re going to get a suite! I’ve stayed in a Sheraton Suites before, and this one was very much in-line with that experience – it’s not as glamorous as “all-suite” might sound, but it’s certainly nice enough. The furnishings were a bit dated (and there’s an old-style projection TV in the bedroom), but the bed was comfortable and the water pressure was good :)

Food

The hotel restaurant is called Renditions, and I thought it was very respectable for breakfast (I can’t speak to any other meals). The buffet offered the standard Sheraton spread of breakfast meats, eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, waffles.

Points

I was on a paid stay, but this hotel is a Starwood Category 3 – meaning rooms are available for 7000 points per night.

Miscellaneous

The hotel is just outside San Diego’s famous Gaslamp Quarter, but unfortunately I was too busy with work to be able to check it out.

They participate in Starwood’s Green Choice program, so I was able to get 500 bonus points for declining maid service for 1 of the 2 days of my stay (you’re not allowed to decline on the day of your departure).

Overall Impression

Overall, I would recommend this property if you’re looking for a moderately-priced hotel in San Diego.
