It seems as though I have been traveling all of my life. From family trips when I was young to mega road trips when I was in college and living on my own. Then came the discovery of international travel while I was still teaching and a whole new world opened for me! It can safely be said that I love to travel!  As a teacher and life-long learner, I have always traveled with an open mind and have been blessed with incredible experiences; learned so many things about the world and the people I encounter; and changed my life in ways I never imagined. I have jotted in journals and relived experiences by sharing stories with friends. I came across a phenomenal around-the-world trip report on FlyerTalk that involved some incredible First Class flights and decided that was definitely something I wanted to do too! So, with the help of frequent flyer forums, travel blogs, and friends my travel style improved quite a bit!  After writing a trip report on Paris for TheMrPickles’ blog,  I realized that there is lot more about travel that I would like to share through blogging.

As Carol and I are both fortunate enough to live in the South, possess the same crazy passion for travel, and also have lives which keep us busy, we decided to join forces in writing for Southern Travel Girl. With a focus on points and miles, bargain, and solo travel, I hope you will join me as I explore the world.

To borrow a line from Brad Paisley:

“Oh Dixie Land, I hope you understand
I can’t see this world unless I go
Outside my southern comfort zone.”

Have you ever found yourself outside of your ‘comfort zone’ when you travel?
