On the Sixth Day of Christmas Apple gave to me…. Avicii’s New Year’s Eve Mix

One of my most recently favorite songs is Wake Me Up by Avicii. It is just one of those songs that makes my whole body smile. Avicii is the stage name of Tim Bergling, a Swedish DJ remixer and music producer and, in my opinion, one of the masters of electronic music.

In 2012 Avicii made history by becoming the first DJ to play at Radio City Music Hall in New York playing two sold out performances. He received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording with “Levels” at the 2013 Grammy Awards. On November 24, 2013, he won the American Music Award for favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist. He has even been featured in Forbes Magazine.

Not only does the man make incredible music, he has established himself in the world of giving back as well. In 2011, he and his manager, Grammy nominated executive producer Ash Pournouri, created House for Hunger, a non-profit charity created to address the growing problem of global hunger. From the website:

House for Hunger is a conduit through which Bergling and Pournouri donate and raise funds which are then funneled to organizations that directly impact men, women and children around the world who suffer from daily undernourishment.

Avicii’s 2012 House for Hunger January Tour packed 26 high performance shows into 27 days in cities throughout the United States.  The charity donated $1million dollars in gig fees from the tour to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.

My dream would be to attend an Avicci event. His 2014 tour dates include Australia, Germany, the UK, and Sweden.  Ready to dance?
