Cyber Monday Offers a Few Unique Deals

Cyber Monday RoundupCyber Monday

I purposely make a point of missing Black Friday every year, choosing, instead, to spend my time relaxing in the sun somewhere.  The idea of battling crowds simply to save a few dollars on something that will more than likely be on sale later in the year simply does not appeal to me. I did, however, participate in American Express Small Business Saturday. As I knew I would be traveling, I arranged for the items I wanted to purchase ahead of time and simply phoned to confirm the purchase on Saturday. Suffice it to say, I was quite pleased with my purchases, most of which will be given as Flyer Talk Secret Santa Christmas presents

And now we have Cyber Monday which originally was supposed to be the online equivalent of Black Friday. Just as there are Thanksgiving leftovers gracing the shelves of many refrigerators, there are many deals out there which are simply a continuation of the Black Friday offerings. I’ve had a look around and here are some that I think are noteworthy.

Club Carlson CyberMonday

Club Carlson – Purchase up to 10000 points and earn a 100% bonus. (limit 10K point purchase) You must sign in to your account to be able to see the bonus. This special offer is only available today, December 1, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. CST.

Orbitz – Shawn at Miles to Memories has all of the details on the huge sale where Orbitz is offering $100 off of a $100 or more booking. Although all of the details are not out yet, his post covers the sale as well as any. The Orbitz promotion page link is here.

Sbux cyber mondayStarbucks has announced its Cyber Monday Special – $25 off a $70 Starbucks online order with free shipping. The Teavana offer is for $25 off orders over $60. The code is CYBER14. If you use your American Express card which is connected to the recent AMEX $5 off $10 purchase, the discount increases making this a potentially sweet deal. Starbucks items are always a good gift option for the holidays. Also on December 1 to honor World Aids Day, Starbucks will donate 10 cents (to be matched by Bank of America) to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. See Starbucks Red for more information.

Hyatt – Many Hyatt Hotels are offering their own version of Cyber Monday specials, such as the Hyatt Regency McCormack Place and Hyatt Regency Chicago (Use offer code C48NOV to receive 30% off rates when you book between now and December 1 and stay between December 15, 2014 through March 16, 2015). Hyatt Chicago Magnificent Mile is offering 25 percent discounts on standard guest rooms (starting at $97), Corner King guest rooms ($122) and one-bedroom Executive Suites ($147) for stays from Dec. 7, 2014-March 7, 2015. The Hyatt Regency Aruba also has a one day CyberMonday offer. Book a five-night stay on December 1 and you’ll receive 20% off the deluxe room rate with the code ARUA15 (This also comes with a spa and food credit). You may want to check the Hyatt.com homepage for more offers.

Rail Europe is offering several specials you can book between Dec. 1st and 5th, including $100 off Global Eurail Passes (use promo code EURAILCYBER14 when booking online). Their Eurail Global Pass Off Peak promotion also lets you save an additional 20 percent if you’re planning to travel by Mar. 31, 2015. Another sale lets you save $75 on Swiss Passes by booking between Dec. 1st and 5th and using promo code SWISSCYBER14. You can also sign up for their email newsletter for exclusive access to Rail Europe’s Black Friday specials.

Friendly Planet Travel offers $100-500 off travel packages. Information can be found on its website. The discounts are valid for online bookings only.

If you suffered ‘scale shock’ when weighing yourself after Thanksgiving, as I did, you may want to check out Hilton Head Health deal on Cyber Monday that gives guests 10% off one-week stays, 15% off two-week stays, and 20% off 3 weeks or more. Guests staying at this leading weight loss and wellness resort can use this deal for stays from January 11, 2015 through March 15, 2015.

Alaska Airlines is offering a few discounted fares which are purchased by 11:59 p.m. (PT) on December 8, 2014. Travel is valid Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from January 6, 2015, through March 4, 2015. There are plenty of blackouts and exceptions so read the T&C’s carefully, but for those of you in the Alaska Air market, there are some very nice deals to be had.

SLS Las Vegas

The new SLS Las Vegas has just opened. Their Cyber Monday deal is 50% off their Best Rate. The offer can only be booked online and is a non-refundable rate.

And, if you are into cruising, there are some spectacular cruise deals to be had. CruCon Cruise Outlet is having a huge 48 hour sale. Norwegian Cruise Line is offering up to $250 in onboard credit on cruises booked through December 2. MSC Cruises  is offering cruises as low as $99 per person for 2 night cruises, $299 for 4 night cruises, and $349 for 7 night cruises to the Caribbean with its sale running through Cyber Monday. Princess Cruises offers some outstanding prices in its Getaway Sale for Cyber Monday.  Four to five night cruises are up to 50% off and 3rd and 4th guests in each stateroom are as low as $50 per person.  Cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean are as low as $229 per person. This sale runs until December 4. Royal Caribbean is offering a 24 hour Vow to WOW sale that will run on December 1, 2014.  Sale includes up to $400 in onboard credit, 50% off deposits, and buy one guest, get second guest 50% off.  Offer is good for all sailings to the Bahamas and Caribbean from January 1 – April 30, excludingQuantum of the Seas.

The bottom line for Cyber Monday… if you have a favorite brand, or a favorite destination, hunt around and see if there are deals being offered that suit your needs.

Here’s to happy travel shopping!
