Cabo San Lucas Airport (SJD) Open – Updated Airline Schedule<\/h1>\n

I caught a Tweet from @hharteveldt<\/a> today on Twitter about the Cabo San Lucas Airport (SJD).<\/p>\n

I decided to do a little research and found out that Cabo San Lucas is working very hard to ready itself for a return of visitors this fall. According to the link, the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pac\u00edfico (GAP) announced that on October 2, 2014, the Mexican Bureau of Civil Aviation (DGAC), the Mexican aeronautical authority, issued a statement that the Airport would be able to be opened to domestic and international commercial flights, operating under the standard security protocols in Terminal 2.\u00a0The opening comes five days earlier than anticipated.<\/p>\n

Airlines will begin flights back to\u00a0Cabo (SJD)\u00a0based upon demand. If you have plans to go to Cabo, most airlines have issued change waivers.\u00a0 In talking with a US Airways representative last night, she suggested checking to see if your fare has decreased. If so, you may be able to have your ticket reissued with no change fee associated. Unfortunately for me, the price of my ticket for Thanksgiving week\u00a0only dropped about $100 so it really wasn’t worth cancelling and rebooking.<\/p>\n

The resorts have been sending out notices as to estimated opening dates. Depending upon the location and the severity of the damage sustained by Hurricane Odile, the dates range from mid-October to the first of January.<\/p>\n

Efforts to\u00a0have Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo up and running by the holidays are well under way. Most of the grocery and superstores\u00a0(Mega, Walmart, City Club), as well as banks and gas stations,\u00a0are open. City water is running, trash pickup has resumed, and electricity has been restored in many areas. The Bisbee\u2019s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament\u00a0<\/a>will run as scheduled on October 17th.<\/p>\n
