R.I.P. Google Reader

Via Do It For The Points, Google has just announced that they will be shutting down Google Reader later this year.

Say it ain't so, Google!

Say it ain’t so, Google!

I’m really sad to see it go, because GoogleReader is a great tool for following blogs and other sources. There are plenty of other RSS services out there, but it really worked well for me. Looks like I’ll have to find something new now.

For those of you who subscribe to this blog via RSS, first – thank you :), and second – what do you use?

The official announcement can be found on the Official GoogleReader blog.

Feedly (which is also owned by Google I believe) is one of the best alternatives. I have found that the option to use more visual approach to content helps me sift through all the unimportant posts and news faster.
Feedly’s mobile apps also work great especially if you use Android and the company just announced that if you sign up before Reader gets shut down your feeds and information will transition seamlessly to Feedly which is a huge plus for any user.
