85,000 Frequent Flyer Miles with Two Credit Card Approvals

My husband was approved for both the Chase Continental OnePass PlusVisa and Barclays Bank US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard. He applied for both cards on the same day, since they are offered by different credit card companies. Now that he has made his first purchase on each card and I will be checking to make sure the free 50,000 Continental miles and the free 35,000 US Airways go into his frequent flyer accounts.

I am also checking our mail because U.S Airways should be sending him a free U.S. Airways Club day pass. This usually allows both of us to relax at the airport lounge before our flight and enjoy free snacks and beverages. Also in the envelope should be two $99 companion tickets which I have never found useful, but some of my friends use them every year. These perks are part of the offer from the MasterCard. My husband did receive a packet in the mail from Chase regarding more benefits from his Continental OnePass PlusVisa. He will have the first check bag on flights operated by Continental waived for up to 8 people traveling with him as long as he uses his Continental Airlines Chase Visa to purchase the tickets. Here is the link to my post about this credit card offer from Continental Airlines. Continental Visa

This Continental Visa has a number of benefits from the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection. The brochure my husband received stated he will get the following complementary benefits:
-Breakfast for two daily
-A room upgrade, if available at check-in
-Early check-in and late check-out, if available
-A gift or special amenity unique to every property, such as a round of golf, an airport transfer, lunch or dinner for two or a spa credit.
I will need to check and see how the rates booked through www.LHRCollection.com listed in the brochure compare with booking hotel rooms with this hotel group in other ways.

Since I applied for the Chase Priority Club Visa in December, I plan to wait until the end of April or beginning of May to apply for the Continental Visa. Right now it looks like this offer has been extended to May 15, 201, but these offers are always subject to change. I already have the Airways Visa and called to try to get the same offer, but was refused twice. It may be time to cancel that card and wait and apply another time.
