As many of you already know Southwest has joined TSA Pre✓. My husband and I decided it was worth it to spend $100 each for the Global Entry fee. It lasts for five years and also includes TSA Pre✓. When using the TSA Pre✓ lane at participating airports you no longer need to take off your shoes or remove your belt. You may wear a light jacket and your approved liquids and laptop do not need to come out of your bag when going through security at the airport. Accompanying passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA PreCheck lanes when traveling with eligible passengers (parent or guardian).
Before Southwest began participating in TSA Pre✓ I booked a number of flights on Southwest.com . To qualify for TSA Pre✓ on our existing Southwest reservations I logged into our Southwest accounts and added our known traveler numbers. After logging into your account go to “My Preferences, Contact Information, Add/Edit” and click “Update” at the bottom of the page when you have finished adding your known traveler number.
Next I suggest you call Southwest Airlines 1-800-IFLYSWA and tell them you have flight confirmations and you want to add TSA Pre✓ to your reservations. For each confirmation number the Southwest agent will take out your known traveler number, put it back into your account and then the agent will receive confirmation that TSA Pre✓ has been added to your reservation. Since I had five separate reservations for each my husband and I it took 10-15 minutes on the phone with the agent to have our known traveler numbers added to all of our reservations.
My first flight on Southwest since they joined TSA Pre✓ is early next week. Hoping TSA Pre✓ is visible when I print our boarding passes. We are spoiled after successfully using Global Entry during our trip to Australia and avoiding all lines as we entered Australia and when we arrived back in Honolulu. Now we are both looking forward to using the TSA Pre✓ lanes when flying Southwest Airlines.
