I’ve been to this city several times mainly because I love the beach and there is lots to do here to fill a long weekend. The places to eat and drink is near the Las Olas Blvd. All along the street across from the beach there are bars, restaurants, shopping, and hotels. The hotel I stayed at is the Sheraton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Hotel using SPG points. This hotel is right on the beach which I loved. They also have a wreck bar and pool side bar which I also enjoyed.
I love going on adventures and doing activities while on vacation so I definitely recommend scuba diving or snorkeling. I recommend the Sea Experience where you have both options available. They take you on a boat ride through the intercoastal where you get to see million dollar homes, then they take you out to an area where you can see many fish and other sea life.
If you are looking for the Polynesian feel without going to Hawaii, then I recommend Mai-Kai for a dinner and a show. There show is like one you will see at an actual luau and the food is great even if it is on the pricey side.
Not to far away in Miami there is a great Zoo you can visit. I definitely recommend renting a shaded bike because the zoo is large and it takes a while to walk and it can get pretty hot! The animals were fun to admire and I love their personalities.
