For my weekend trip to Austin, I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Town Lake for 25k points/night or 20k +$40.
What made the hotel great:
View from our room
Rooftop Pool
Kayaking right behind the Holiday Inn
Austin food park on site with refreshing smoothies, breakfast tacos, Thai Tacos, and snow cones
What made the hotel not so great:
It was right next to the freeway so when at the rooftop pool, you can hear all the cars drive by
The Platinum goodie was water and granola bar (I’d rather have free breakfast!)
It was a far walk to 6th street, even though I did enjoy the exercise.
I still enjoyed by weekend stay but may try closer hotels with less traffic noise.
We also stayed there for a night when we were in Austin a few weeks back! Agree with both sides of what made the hotel great and not so great. The traffic was quite loud and it really was a nice hike to downtown. We very much preferred the Hyatt Place Downtown that we moved to the rest of the trip.
