Hyatt Regency Cancun Inside and Out

Update: This hotel is no longer owned by Hyatt. It is now called Krystal Grand Punta Cancun

A hotel I stayed at in Cancun was the Hyatt Regency. It had been recently renovated and it has a very modern feel. Even the atrium is cool and a little daunting, especially when you look down from the top floor.

I booked an advanced rate for 3 nights for $127 USD and used my suite upgrade. You could also spend 8k Hyatt points/night on a regular room or 10k points for a Club Room. Bookit.com also has better rates. I should have checked these before I went.  The Suites and Club comes with access to the Regency Club which gives guess complimentary breakfast in the morning from 7-10  and delicious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from 5-7. We were here every time because who doesn’t like free drinks 🙂

The suite we stayed in was very spacious and the sofa in the living room is a sleeper so 4 people could stay here. We also had a balcony in both room and living room to get a great view of the beach. The suite also came with 2 upgraded bathrooms so you don’t have to share.

The open air restaurant and the beach area was very nice as well. There were outdoor beds to use to relax for free and there were also beach pods and lounge chairs to enjoy the beach the way you choose. The sand getting to the ocean was more shelly than the more southern parts of Cancun but once you got in the water, it was crisp clear water and smooth sand! There is also a lifeguard on duty because the water can get rough some days. Since there are many hotels within the area, the beach can sometimes get crowded.

One plus or minus depending on how you see it is that this hotel is close to all the action. It is a short walk to Coco Bongo, many restaurants, shopping and clubs. So this mean that you could potentially be hearing loud music when you are trying to sleep or if you are more the going out type, then this will be perfect for you because you won’t have to get an expensive cab ride back after you party hard. Overall I enjoyed our stay and would go back to this hotel again. This seems like a great value for the use of your points or money.
