Switch & Stay with Reliant Energy & Get 27k United Miles (TX Res Only)

It looks like United has recently added Reliant as a mileage earning partner. I had only seen this offer before with American Airlines.

The offer: for new customers who switch to Reliant Energy as their utility provider and sign a 2 year contract will get 15,000 bonus miles after sign up and 500 miles every month thereafter for 2 years which totals 27,000 miles. This offer is currently for Texas residents only.

I already am taking advantage of this offer with AA and I have had no issued with miles posting and the rates are the same for those who are not earning miles. My parents are with Reliant and are paying the same rate. Also I can verify that this is a fixed rate plan. Signing up online was easy and you don’t have to worry about doing anything else as the utility provider will take care of canceling with your previous provider and switching seamlessly so there is no interruption in electricity. I have switched utility providers several times to take advantage of these offers with no issues thus far.

There are more utility offers with different airlines and different providers. Look above at the miles and points database for these.

What has been your experience if you have taken advantage of these offers?
