This is why I love this points & miles hobby, to stay at places I could never afford! I have visited the Venetian hotel during the holidays and it was beautiful! Everything was decorated in holiday decor and it felt glamorous. I decided that I wanted to stay at this hotel for New Years Eve. How could I make this happen?

Well The Venetian is an Intercontinental alliance resort which means that you can use your IHG free night certificate and points here. The cost in points is 50k or 40k +$70, but considering this hotel goes for $499 + on NYE, I consider this worth the points. What you can get is a Luxury Suite 1 King or Bella Suite 2 queen beds so you can go with your significant other or have a girls/guys NYE bash!

Unfortunately, the points/certificate option is all booked for this NYE. I actually booked mine back in April. So if you want to make plans for next year, you must do it early!
The Palazzo Las Vegas is also an IHG alliance hotel so you can use your points or hotel certificate here as well.
Why didn’t you choose the Palazzo? IMHO, their rooms are better than Venetian’s.
I haven’t stayed at either so I have no opinion of either yet. Its too late for me to change now but there is always next yr 🙂
