Houston Proposes a Possible Spaceport!

So what is a spaceport? It is essentially an airport used for commercial passenger spaceflight. The proposed spaceport would be at Ellington Airport (EFD) which is southeast of Hobby Airport (HOU).

Here is a digital image of their vision:

Here is the full article and the facility would also be used for astronaut training, zero gravity experimentation and space tourism.

Once licensing is approved, Houston will become the nation’s ninth licensed Spaceport and it will hopefully start construction like Spaceport America is currently doing in New Mexico which will also be the headquarters of Virgin Galactic.

This topic is fascinating because in the not too distant future, we may be able to afford and travel into space just as we are traveling around the world.
