Holiday Inn Munich City Center is a Great Location

For Oktoberfest in Munich, we stayed at the Holiday Inn City Center and although it wasn’t the greatest Holiday Inn, it was a great location.

For the booking process, I wanted to book way in advance since I was going opening weekend and I knew award hotels would be hard to come by.  They are currently going for 35k points per night. At the time we were booking this hotel, the costs was in excess of $400/night and I stayed for 4 nights so I thought I got a great deal.

The great part of this hotel is that it is near the S-Bahn (underground subway) or more specifically, the Rosenheimer Platz stop. This means that you can go anywhere from the airport, to the City Center, to the Olympic Park and to Oktoberfest. grounds. You will have to make stops and/or change lines to get to these specific places but learning the subway system was fairly easy.

The check-in process was easy and as a Platinum member, I was offered free internet and either 500 bonus points or a free drink and snack at the bar.

Since we booked a standard room and needed 2 beds, the only availability was 2 twin beds. Luckily we were small ladies and could fit comfortably, however, taller individuals would have a lot more trouble sleeping here. The beds were firm but after an exhausting day of Oktoberfesting and walking around, I slept soundly.

I would consider the room size cozy with not a lot of extras. The bathrooms were also small and you don’t get the mini shampoos, conditioners, and lotions like you do at other Holiday Inns.

Breakfast runs from 6am-11am but the cost was too much to justify but luckily there is a mini grocery store right next to the Holiday.Inn in the tunnels where you can buy fresh fruit, water, or whatever else you like for breakfast. There is also a small bakery where you can get buttered pretzels and all kinds of pastries. These were the best part of staying here. FYI these are not open on Sundays.

As for amenities, there is a large warm pool that you could also enjoy but I didn’t see anyone there probably because they were eager to get to .Oktoberfest..

I would definitely stay here again because of the location close to the subway and the conveniences of the grocery store and the points needed to book an award night is reasonable.
