New Coastal Hyatts I Really Want to Try

Hyatt has been expanding their property reach and there are several that have opened or are to be opening soon that I really want to try!

All Inclusive

Hyatt has opened their first all inclusive resorts, one in Cabo San Lucas, the Hyatt Ziva, and one in Cancun, Hyatt Zilara.

The Cancun resort Hyatt Zilara is only available for guests 16+ and is the more expensive of the 2 properties and it looks lovely!

Los Cabos resort there is no age limit. 0-2 year olds there is no additional charge and adult is considered 13+

For award redemptions, below is the costs in points which I think is very reasonable.

hyatt redemption

When I tried to do an award booking however, I got this message. Apparently you have to call in order to make an award booking. Even though it says no award rooms available, there is plenty of availability for redemption according to the service rep I called.

hyatt not available

Andaz in Costa Rica

The Andaz Papagayo in Costa Rica is taking reservations for stays starting on Dec 20, 2013. The hotel will have 153 rooms with a contemporary design and amenities. The whole property on the website just looks awesome and relaxing!

You can book a standard room with points for 22,ooo per night or per the service rep I called, you can get an Andaz Suite for 33,000 points per night with a 3 night minimum requirement. (Note: After Jan 7, 2014, the rate for cat 6 will be 24k/night for a standard room and 40k/night for a suite or you can use the cash + points option of 12,500+$150 per night for a standard room)

Andaz Maui

Just recently opened in September of this year, this Hawaiian property has gotten great reviews! I’ve only have been to Hawaii once at Oahu so looking forward to visiting this island.

A standard room will cost 22,00o points/night for a standard room or 33,000 points/night for a suite. However,  after Jan 7, 2014, the rate for cat 6 will be 24k/night for a standard room and 40k/night for a suite or you can use the cash + points option of 12,500+$150 per night for a standard room.

So if you would like to visit any of these properties, I would book sooner rather than later to take advantage of the lower redemption rates.

Hyatt Diamond Challenge

So I think the only way to experience these properties in style would be to do these as a Hyatt Diamond. I found very helpful information from Rom’s Deals who stated that in order to do the challenge, you would need to show a comparable status at another hotel chain such as Hilton Gold, and you will have to stay 12 nights in 60 days to keep status. The great part about the challenge is that you get it instantly when starting the challenge and if start the challenge after June and complete in 2013, then you will get to keep Diamond until Feb 2015.

To put icing on the cake, next year starting Jan 4, 2014, Platinum and Diamond members get “My Elite Rate” which is a  a 20% discount off the daily rate on standard rooms, subject to availability of course. So this would make achieving Diamond status more inexpensive.

Are you looking or have you stayed at these properties? What was your experience with Hyatt Diamond Challenge if you already have done it. Worth it in terms of cost?

  1. Hyatt has a great portfolio of properties. As a Hyatt Diamond the level of treatment varies from property to property. I have to say though, it is one the only status that I am specifically taking a trip to requalify for. The properties on your list look great, especially interested in the Hyatt Zilara.

Sometimes a person woders why they spent 90 nights in SPG hotels this year and now are 6 hyatt stays short on December1. Mattress run time.

I am excited about trying more Hyatt hotels and getting diamond status. I’ll definitely do a write up when I get to experience these properties!
