Club Carlson Devaluation with Some Positive Changes

I received an email this morning from Club Carlson letting me know that they will extend my Concierge Status until March 1 and will be adding some positive and negative changes starting March 15, 2014:

club carlson changesSo the new tier they are talking about is a new category 7 which will cost 70k points per night. These hotels are a select few and in Europe:

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Dubai
Radisson Blu Le Dokhan’s Paris
Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel & Thalasso Cannes
Radisson Blu Le Metropolitan Paris
Radisson Blu Hotel Champs Elysees Paris
The May Fair London
Plaza on the River London
art’otel Amsterdam
Radisson Royal Hotel Moscow

They have also made category shifts for other hotels which can be found here.

They have made negative changes towards elite bonus points earned:

Silver will go from 25% to 15%
Gold will go from 50% to 35%
Concierge will stay at 75%

The loyalty programs saving grace is their Visa Card which earns 5x on all purchases and lets you redeem 2 for 1 award nights.

It seems like this past year was the year for devaluations. Club Carlson just didn’t want to be left out!

Update: Loyalty Lobby discusses the new Club Carlson brands to be launched in 2015 and beyond and which will most likely fall into the Cat 7 which was just announced.
