Cabo San Lucas Hotels and Airport Closed due to Hurricane

A few days ago, Hurricane Odile slammed the resort town of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where thousands of tourists visit to relax on their beautiful beaches. The hurricane was so bad that the airport SJD has closed to commercial aircrafts leaving many stranded there and many hotels have been closed until further notice. The airport remains closed to commercial  air service, but local authorities have authorized outgoing humanitarian relief flights which started last night on 9/17/14. You can read more about Alaska’s relief flights here.

AIRLINES

Southwest Airlines -Please call 1-800-435-9792 to speak with a Customer Service Representative or make changes to your itinerary. Customers holding a reservation for travel to/from SJD beginning Sunday, September 14 through Tuesday, September 30 may request a refund of unused air fare or reschedule their flights.

American Airlines– If you are traveling to, through or from SJD from September 15 – October 15, 2014, then to change travel dates or for questions regarding destination changes, contact the Reservations personnel at 1-800-433-7300. The ticket reissue charge will be waived for one ticket change.

United – For original travel dates September 14, 2014 – September 30, 2014, when rescheduled travel commences by October 14, 2014, change fees and fare differences will be waived. You can call 1-800-864-8331.

Delta –  If you are traveling to, through or from SJD from September 16 – October 04, 2014, ticket must be reissued on or before Dec 15, 2015 and rebooked travel must begin no later then that date.  The change fee will be waived, however, a difference in fare may apply. You can call 1-800-221-1212.

US Airways – The airline is operating flights today 9/18/14 to help bring customers back home. If you are traveling to, through or from SJD from September 15 – October 15, 2014, then to change travel dates or for questions regarding destination changes, contact the Reservations personnel at 1-800-428-4322.

Alaska Airlines– For original travel dates to, through or from SJD from September 14 – November 20, 2014, change fees and difference in fare is waived if new travel is booked in same cabin to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Manzanillo, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guadalajara, or Mexico City and completed on or before December 20, 2014. Tickets must be exchanged or refunded by December 20, 2014. Call Alaska Airlines Reservations at 1-800-252-7522.

HOTELS

Hilton – Hotel closed to new arrivals and not excepting existing or new reservations until further notice. Call 1-800-HILTONS
