CasaMagna Marriott Resort in Cancun Review

What better way to escape the cold winter by going to the beach in Cancun! I had previously stayed at the JW Marriott which I reviewed here and I decided to stay at their sister property CasaMagna which is right next door. The current points redemption rate for this Cat 7 hotel is 35k points per night, however, if you stay 5 nights, you get the last one free so the 5 night stay will cost you 140k points.

To get the Marriott property from the airport, you can can prearrange it with the hotel and pay for it before you arrive. The cost is $15 per person each way which seems to be a decent rate in Cancun.

When you book your hotel on points, you get a standard room, however, since I had Platinum status, I was able to get an upgrade to an ocean view room. You don’t get free breakfast at this resort but you do get a welcome amenity with Platinum status which consists of a beverage item and a food item. I went with the wine and the cheese and fruit plate which was delivered to the room within the hour. You also get a 15% discount at their little cafe shop or during breakfast and 2 free coffees at their cafe shop daily.

The room was also very comfortable and it had a great view of the hotel pool and the ocean

I also have to say that the staff here is wonderful. They are very attentive to your needs and are very friendly. I had a wonderful time here and you can’t beat the views. They also come around in the evenings to give you any extra towels and toiletries if needed. You also get free use of the chairs on the beach.

If you are in the mood for their all you can eat breakfast, it costs about $25 a person (less 15% for platinum members) and you get everything from fruits, ham and cheese, and pastries to hot foods such as an omelets, bacon and potatoes, etc.

Comparing this to the JW Marriott, I feel like the service and quality are both top notch but if I had to choose, I would pick the CasaMagna because of the cheaper cost on points.

Here are some helpful money saving tips while you are in Cancun.

Also while you are here, you can potentially test out the GoPro Hero4 since CasaMagna is on the list of resorts offering complementary use.

  1. Thanks for the review. I prefer not to use points in Cancun where hotel options are plentiful and very affordable.
