Linking AA and US Airways Accounts and Facing Any Problems

If you log into either you American Airlines or US Airways account today, you will get a screen that will pop up prompting you to connect one account to the other since there will only be one account going forward starting in the second quarter of 2015.

If you log into your US Airways account first, you will be prompted to enter your AAdvantage number and vise versa. If all goes well, you will see a screen saying that your accounts have been successfully linked.

If all doesn’t go well, you will get this screen:

not matched

Basically, everything from your name to your email address to your address has to match from each account. For me, one account had my full middle name while the other just had my middle initial and thus I was not able to connect accounts.

In order to get your information to match, you have to call either American Airlines at 1-800-882-8880 or US Airways at 1-800-428-4322 and have them update your information. It then might take 24 hours for the information to be updated in order for you to link your accounts.

Hopefully you will have an easy time linking your accounts together and will be waiting for your accounts to have even more points in a few months!

I was having the same issue. I had to call twice before we could get the accounts to match up. If you call American, ask the agent if they could call US airways (or vise versa) to get the issue straightened out. They were able to work out the technical issues this way.
