Update: No longer a Radisson hotel. It is now The Line Austin and the interior has been updated.
One of my go to hotels in Austin is the Radisson because of the great location downtown right off Town Lake and a short distance from 6th St, Rainey St, and the Capital. This hotel is also a great location to view the Austin bats that come out during the late spring/summer. My stay is always great because the staff is always friendly and accommodating.
The lobby area has a Starbucks for your breakfast coffee and pastry and there is also an attached restaurant called Chavez where you can grab a nice meal. There is also a large aquarium that you can enjoy and lots of lounge seating.
I booked the room with points so I was suppose to get a standard room but as a member with Gold status, I was upgraded to a King Suite. These rooms include sleep number beds and they are extremely comfortable. The room costs 44k points per night but if you have the Club Carlson Visa card, you get the last night free.
The only downside is that the room and attached living room are a bit outdated. The green, brown, and yellow make it feel very drab.
Luckily the hotel is going through a renovation and have started sprucing up the Executive floor with a new, fun, and colorful design. Here is a sneak peak at the rooms. As soon as you walk in, you notice the bright colors and much needed change. I don’t know about the white couches because they are prone to get dirty but they still look great.
I also appreciate the funky and fun artwork that will be displayed in each room.
The bathrooms will have better lighting and some color
And the bedroom will also have a bright new headboard and updated colorful curtains.
Another great feature of the hotel is their newly renovated infinity pool. It looks out onto Town Lake and is very inviting.
Hopefully these renovated rooms will be ready to be enjoyed soon!
MUCH better than what they currently have. This hotel will now move up to the top of my list again. Great pictures! I agree the service is great and even though you can’t get free breakfast the 2×1 nights and cheaper parking of $18ish is more appealing than other options. I just stayed away from it lately because yes, the rooms and dingy and on the smelly side and in real need of this renovation. Excited to see it happen. I sense higher points price in the future though.
I hope they don’t raise the points price. Its not like its a Radisson Blu. You can get a confirmed business room for 66k points which is plenty enough. That reminds me of the parking. I was able to prepay it for $14 a night. I received an email if I wanted to upgrade my rooms for a fee and in there was an option for reduced self parking which I took. I’m looking forward to stay in the upgraded rooms soon.
I got the same prepaid parking offer when I stayed last year (Labor Day) and mine was $12. I’m sure it fluctuates based on demand possibly. Pool is very nice, although the bats are much better watched from the top of their parking garage. We tried from the pool one night and the trees obstructed the view to almost zero.
