Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos to Delay Opening

As I speculated, the all inclusive Hyatt Resort in Los Cabos is pushing back its opening date from Aug 15 to Sept 15, 2015.  They began sending out emails on ways they plan to accommodate you if your reservation falls between these dates:

  • You may cancel your existing reservation with no penalty to you.  The full amount of your resort booking will be refunded.
  • You may rebook your stay at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos for a later date, based on resort availability excluding the dates of December 24, 2015 – January 3, 2016, and enjoy your confirmed early booking rate.  Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos will absorb up to $250 per person in airline change fees for all guests that held a confirmed reservation for travel prior to September 15th.  When you rebook your reservation the Guest Relations Specialist can provide you with the necessary information for receiving compensation for airline rebooking fees that you may incur.
  • For those unable to change their original travel dates, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos will arrange for similar quality accommodations at a neighboring all-inclusive resort.

Please contact Hyatt Guest Services at your earliest convenience at 888-848-9496.  Our Guest Services representatives will have all of the information to assist you in quickly modifying your reservation.

Unlike the delay at the Hyatt Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, they are not offering points compensation as an option. Also they didn’t have the other available hotels for the last option, so they told me to call back next week for any updates.

If you are interested in staying in Los Cabos on points, here are some other options which I got from AwardMapper.com

Cabo San Lucas Hotels

If you have made reservations for this property before Sept 15, then call guest services so they can accommodate you. Hyatt has generally been very good about minimizing the inconvenience for guest which is one reason I really like this hotel brand.

  1. what kind of “equivalent” stays are we talking about? it seemed to me that the other equivalent ones are under renovation too (JW mariott, etc)

  2. Hilton Los Cabos is back open in a limited way, but standard room points stays are being kept at 70,000 all year (you may find some cheaper, but they are based on a cash-rate of around $.003/point).
