Intercontinental Presidente Cancun Review

What better way to escape the cold than to visit a beach resort in Cancun. I recently visited the Intercontinental Presidente Cancun Resort and had a wonderful time on the beach and received great service from the staff there. You can get free stays by redeeming 30k IHG points per night or you can use your free night certificate that you receive from the Chase IHG credit card. If you are interested in how to redeem these certificates, check out my post here.

Check-in & Club Lounge

After taking a taxi in from the airport for about $30 one way, I was taken to a small desk where I was able to check in and receive recommendations about convenience stores and restaurants nearby. Before I arrived, I did contact Adolfo De La Torre, the concierge, and was able to negotiate access to the club lounge for approximately $60 + taxes per night. The club lounge here offers daily continental breakfast until 10am and a reception which includes drinks and appetizers/deserts that’s available from 6-8pm. Luckily I arrived just in time for the reception! The lounge had plenty of space, great drinks, deserts, and finger foods, and the view of the pool and beach in the morning is wonderful.

Bedroom

The room I got was an ocean view room on the 4th floor so I was able to look out on the beach in the morning. Unfortunately there was no balcony which I enjoy when I stay at beach resorts. The room was comfortable and the AC works great if you like it cold in your room. The only cons about this room is that the brown shutters are movable so you can see into the shower from the bedroom. Also the shower door is non-existent, there is a panel of glass that covers half of the shower. The shower head is on the ceiling so it feels like you are showering in the rain which can be nice. Overall it was a great room but I honestly didn’t stay long indoors. The beach was just too nice!

Pool & Beach

The resort has two pools, a family pool and an adults only pool area. The pools are large but aren’t heated so can be chilly in the mornings and evenings but they are nice when the sun is out. There are several bar areas outdoors where you can grab a drink.

The resort also has covered lounge chairs that are available for free to guests. They even have outlets that you can charge your electronic devices. Waitstaff come by frequently to get any drink or food order you may have and are pretty attentive. The water in this area is not very strong so I enjoyed getting into the clear blue water or walking along the white powdery shore.

Gym and Spa

I didn’t take advantage of the gym or spa at the facility but the gym seemed pretty large with plenty of equipment to use. The spa is called Ikal and I’ve included a review that another blogger wrote to give you an idea of their experience. Ikal Spa review from Chocolate & Chihuahuas

Here is the current price listing for Ikal Spa at the time of this post. Ask the concierge for the most recent price listing.

    Hello,

Can you tell me how you were able to connect with Adolfo De La Torre, the concierge, as I too am staying on rewards points and would like to try and negotiate access to the club lounge. I have searched for his email address but I have not been able to get it. Thanks so much!
