Beginners Guide

Traveling is always fun but can be expensive when you take into account the flights, hotels, transportation, etc. Many have figured out a way to ‘travel hack” by accumulating lots of miles and points for hotels and airlines to travel very inexpensively (even for business and first class flights and 5 star hotels!) Of course accumulating this valuable currency doesn’t happen over night and there are many steps to take and lots of information to learn about. I know this isn’t for everyone but once you get into it, it is very addicting.

To give you a little about me, I started this “hobby” in 2010 and I’ve collected over 2 million miles and have traveled mostly in the US but have gone to Italy, Germany, Mexico, and Brazil. Believe me, this is nothing compared to my crazy friends I have met along the way who have hundreds of millions of miles and some make a living doing this stuff. Anyways, this has also led me to write a lil travel blog. I do it for fun, because traveling should be fun!

Still interested? Ok to give you a high level recap of how people collect miles and points (besides actually flying and staying at hotels) is mostly applying for credit cards and going through shopping portals when buying stuff online. But did you know that you can also earn miles and points for dinning out at certain restaurants, from your electricity provider, for buying flowers for your mom or girlfriend, for renting a car, for participating in surveys, or making donations?
