I had previously written about how miles and points are getting me to Italy<\/a>. Well I finally got to stay at the\u00a0Hotel Indigo – St. George, an IHG property<\/a>\u00a0and it was great because of the modern feel and the location.<\/p>\n

The hotel is located on a non busy street and blends in with the surrounding buildings.<\/p>\n

Walking into the hotel, you can see the recent renovations with modern blues, purples, and grays with a contemporary feel. I arrived at the hotel earlier than expected (around noon) but they were able to check me in after a few minutes of waiting. As a platinum member, I received either 600 points or a free drink and snack which I took the later. Also you don’t get any free breakfast which I was disappointed with but expected it. The hotel also includes free internet but I later found that it was very slow.<\/p>\n

The elevator was very small and can accommodate maybe 2 people with luggage but the room was a good size and the wall was adorned with a picture of a Roman sculpture.<\/p>\n

I went to explore the hotel amenities and it has a gym, spa, and a small pool or “Roman bath” which is located in the basement level and can be accessed with your key card.<\/p>\n

The hotel also has a rooftop restaurant which feels romantic and has nice views but …<\/p>\n

after checking the prices for food and drinks, I opted to not eat there. There are so many places to eat nearby for breakfast (I found a place to get cappuccino and a croissant for 2 Euro) and for lunch or dinner (less than 10 Euro a plate at nearby restaurants).<\/p>\n

What I liked most about the hotel was the location and proximity to several buildings and monuments. You can easily and within 15 minutes walk to the Vatican, the Castel Sant’Angelo, Piazza Novana, and the Pantheon.<\/p>\n

As stated in a previous post, these rooms cost 45k IHG points per night or you can use your free night certificate from your IHG card. I would stay here again mostly because of the great location.<\/p>\n

Update: When checking out I was charged an accommodation tax for my stay<\/a> so be prepared to pay this.<\/p>\n
