I’d thought I’d share some of my favorite places to eat\u00a0in Austin for anyone who is visiting this fun and weird city.<\/p>\n

Mexican<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Heaven!\"<\/a>

Heaven!<\/p><\/div>\n

Chuy’s<\/a>, a restaurant started in Austin with decor that keeps to the “Keep Austin Weird” moto, has delicious Tex-Mex and a fun atmosphere. If they don’t bring it out with your chips, ask for the jalapeno ranch sauce…that stuff is addicting! Also any dish with Boom-Boom sauce is also yummy! For desert I recommend their tres leches (3 milk) cake. You will be in heaven!<\/p>\n

Trudy’s<\/a>, a local Tex Mex place with a more upscale atmosphere, has delicious Margaritas as well as delicious Tex-Mex. You can sit on their outdoor patio and enjoy the warm Texas weather. With 4 Austin locations each with a little different feel you won’t be disappointed.<\/p>\n

Torchy’s Tacos<\/a> is another local favorite where you can get some unique taco combinations. They also have a secret menu that you can ask the cashier for when you order for additional\u00a0options.<\/p>\n

American<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kerby Lane<\/a>, one of my \"pancakes\"<\/a>absolute favorite places to eat and open 24 hrs, this home grown restaurant serves natural ingredient dishes and also has vegans and vegetarians in mind. Since they serve breakfast all day, I usually get their ginormous pancakes or creative and delicious omelets. You can also buy pancake mix if you love it as much as I do. I also recommend their Kerby Queso for an appetizer. Even though they have 6 locations, this place gets very crowded on the weekends for brunch so expect to wait at least 30min but its worth it in my opinion.<\/p>\n

Plucker’s<\/a>, a wing bar with attitude with the best wings in town, is another local place which has the tastiest and hottest sauces out there. I like one of their sayings: If you don’t like our wings, we’ll give you the bird. Check out one of their 5 locations and enjoy watching a game or grabbing a drink.<\/p>\n

For the best fish tacos in Austin, check out Wahoo’s Fish Tacos <\/a>with a surfer\/skater atmosphere.\"sissy_sauce\"<\/a><\/p>\n

BBQ<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can’t come to Texas without trying some Bar-B-Que!<\/p>\n

Rudy’s BBQ<\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0a picnic like atmosphere and mouthwatering meats to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. Their cream corn is very good and their bbq sauce is peppery and sinus clearing (sissy sauce also available). Don’t let the gas station in front of the restaurant fool you, this is some good bbq.<\/p>\n

If you are willing to travel 30 min from Austin and enjoy the hill country while you are at it, then I recommend the Salt Lick <\/a>in Driftwood, TX which has has been claimed to have some of the best\u00a0BBQ. They have all you can eat BBQ and sides for $20\/ person or you can order a la cart so bring your appetites. There is also another location north of Austin in Round Rock.<\/p>\n

Stiles Switch BBQ<\/a>\"Stiles<\/a> is a new found favorite and located in North Austin. Here you can get\u00a0slow smoked meats & cold craft beer. If you like spicy, I recommend the jalapeno cheese sausage which will definitely put some hair on your chest.<\/p>\n
