Chicago to Minneapolis on American –
I recently traveled on a complicated itinerary / Mileage Run Vacation to Seoul South Korea. I will be writing about my experience over the following posts:
Seoul Trip Report – American Airlines – Chicago to Minneapolis
Date: October 5, 2015
Flight: American Airlines 2185
From: Chicago (ORD)
To: Minneapolis (MSP)
The last leg of the Seoul trip was a quick segment from Chicago to Minneapolis which was operated by a Super-80.
A few days before the flight I received an upgrade to first class via the automated system.
After going through immigration and customs, I took the train from terminal 5 to terminal 3 and proceeded to the security line. There was only two other people in the Pre-Check line, so the security process was quick and I was back in the terminal with a could hours to spare before my flight.
I went for a walk before grabbing a bite to eat.
I proceeded to the gate area a few minutes before the posted boarding time. When I arrived the gate area was filled with people waiting to board.
Within two minutes of me arriving, the boarding process was started and the first class cabin was asked to board. I joined the line and the gate agent welcomed me and he had me scan my boarding pass before thanking me and welcoming me on the flight.
I located my seat and discovered that the tray table was broken with an inoperative sign attached to it. The door was stuck partially open when I took my seat.
Within a few minutes of boarding, the flight attendant approached me and he offered a pre-departure beverage. I requested a water. The flight attendant joked and said that was easy. He provided the water within a few minutes and he thanked me.
The boarding process was quick and the door was closed ahead of the scheduled departure time.
One of the flight attendants approached me and he apologized about the tray table and he fixed it so the door would close so that I would have an arm rest.
After the safety demonstration the lead flight attendant greeted each passenger in the first class cabin by name and he acknowledged their status and thanked them for traveling American before offering a beverage. When the agent reached my seat, he asked what I wanted and I requested a Coca-Cola. He thanked me and asked me to enjoy the flight.
There was about a 10-minute taxi before the plane was in the air.
Within a few minutes, the flight attendant entered the cabin and he served each guest their beverage. The flight attendant also passed around a snack basket that had chips, popcorn, cookies and nuts in it. I declined as I was full from eating at the airport.
The flight attendant was attentive in the cabin and he offered additional beverages to the guests. In addition, he walked through the cabin with the snack basket a second time.
The flight was short, and soon the Captain informed the passengers that they were beginning their decent for landing.
The flight attendant removed the used glasses and cleaned the cabin and he thanked each guest in the first class cabin.
The plane landed and made a short taxi to the gate. Upon arrival, I exited the plane and the lead flight attendant thanked everyone as they were departing.
Overall this was a great ending to the two Seoul trips. I felt that lead flight attendant was excellent and he went above and beyond the standard to make sure everyone enjoyed the flight.
