SPG Moments Cubs Spring Training VIP Reception

I regularly look at the SPG Moments website to see if there any special worthwhile redemptions since I am a die-hard Starwood fan. Starpoints can be redeemed for these once in a lifetime experiences that are not sold elsewhere. There are two types of SPG Moments redemptions, fixed price and auction style. I saw that there were multiple Spring Training games available for a fixed price and auction style redemptions. I redeemed 5,000 fixed Starpoints for a Cubs Spring Training VIP Reception earlier this month. The event was located at the W Scottsdale in Arizona and included a meet & greet with Len Kasper, the Cubs game announcer. In addition, the package also included two tickets to the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs game at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona.

The VIP reception was held on a Saturday night a few weeks ago at the W Scottsdale. There was a sign next to the front desk reception pointing to the direction in which the event was being held. Adjacent to the lobby, there was a celebrity party going on at the bar upstairs which was off limits to non-guests.

I checked in at the SPG Moments desk and we were given each a baseball (for autographs), Cubs hat, two game tickets, and a SPG goody bag.

The VIP Reception was located in an outdoor garden patio at the back of the W Scottsdale which was closed off to the public for a few hours.

A dinner buffet was set up and passed tray appetizers were also being brought out in timed intervals.

There was also a complimentary open cocktail bar with a staffed bartender.

Within an hour into the reception, Len Kasper approached SPG Moments guests for a chat and a photo opportunity.

Len also invited us to meet Dave Sveum, the manager of the Chicago Cubs who also attended the event. It was such an honor to meet a baseball coach face to face and be able to strike up a conversation. I also took a photo opportunity with Dave Sveum.

The event only lasted two hours, but it was definitely worth the 5,000 Starpoints for a once in a lifetime experience. I encourage you to take a look at the SPG Moments website and try to build your next trip around a SPG Moments redemption.
