Bonding with the #AAdvocates and the American Airlines Social Media Team at #AADFW

This past weekend, I was honored to be a part of a group of so called #AAdvocates. I’m not sure who coined the term, but I have a feeling that it might have been Stephanie from the American Airlines Social Media Team. For the event, we used the Twitter hashtag, #AADFW.

I wrote a four part article about the trip behind the scenes at Dallas Fort Worth:

Part 1 – Terminal Renewal Improvement Program (TRIP) in Terminal A and the American Airlines Control Tower

Part 2 – Crew Lounges and the Underground Bagroom

Part 3 – On the tarmac experience and the C.R Smith Museum

Part 4 – Flight Academy Facility – Flight Attendant Training, Flight Simulator, and the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) (formerly Systems Operations Control Center (SOCC))

The best part about this whole weekend was spending time with the fellow #AAdvocates and the American Airlines Social Media Team. When I saw the itinerary with the list of attendees, I saw some familiar names such as Bobby from AAdvantageGeekCliff from Twitter, Shane from Twitter, Will from Twitter, and Lisa from Twitter. I made new friends along the way who were also #avgeeks.

We had a lot of bonding time during the two day excursion and that included being almost trapped in an underground stairwell and being crammed into an elevator.

We had lunch at Cantina Laredo in Terminal D.

I ordered brisket tacos with a side of rice and beans which was very good.

Jonathan Pierce, the Director of Social Media for American Airlines gave us some insight about the up and coming merger and how it will play out for the future of Social Media at American Airlines.

We had cocktail hour at the Holiday Inn DFW Airport hotel.

I ordered my usual, cranberry vodka with lime.

Cliff and I shared a White Pizza and a Sausage Pizza with Jalapenos which were both good.

I just want to thank the whole American Airlines Social Media Team for making this event happen. This trip was amazing and it felt like an American Airlines MegaDO on a much smaller scale. May the future be bright for the upcoming merger and success to my airline, American Airlines.
