The Tremont Chicago Hotel Review at Magnificent Mile

I stayed at the Tremont Chicago hotel in March earlier this year because I had an overnight layover towards the end of my trip to Shanghai. I booked a AAA rate at of $76 + taxes which turned out to be $88 in total. It was a complete bargain since this hotel was in the city center of Chicago in the Magnificent Mile area. The rates were low because of the winter season.

I took the CTA Blue line from ORD airport for $5.00 and changed over to the Red line to get to the hotel.

Right as you enter the hotel, there is a living room area to the left. The living room contained plush couches and plenty of seating for entertainment.

The hotel seemed very boutique in the sense that it had a narrow hallway leading to the front desk.

The front desk agent was very nice and courteous and upgraded me to their best room, the Penthouse Suite. I read on Flyertalk that this is the usual SPG Platinum upgrade since there are three Penthouse Suites. I chose 500 Starpoints as my Platinum amenity since I had an early fight the next morning and would not make it in time for breakfast.

As I entered the Penthouse Suite, I was welcomed with a large living room which was the size of an apartment. It contained a dining table with seating for five, a plush couch, armoire with a TV inside, and also a wetbar with a mini-fridge.

The Penthouse Suite also had a half bathroom right next to the entryway.

The master bedroom area contained a TV, dresser, and a king sized bed.

The bathroom was equipped with a large double basin sink and a spacious Jacuzzi bathtub.

The view at night from my penthouse suite was amazing.

I would definitely recommend visiting this hotel if you can score a Penthouse suite with a Platinum upgrade. I don’t’ know what the other rooms look like, but this hotel is usually under $100 on most nights. I didn’t have breakfast, but it would be at the restaurant next door (shared agreement) since the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant.
