Oh I know what you’re thinking. It’s the beginning of a new month and you’re tired of seeing numerous “What’s in my Wallet?” posts from bloggers. No, there are no credit card links in this post. A reader asked “What kind of cards do you carry when you travel to Las Vegas?”
First of all, I usually burn 9,000 British Airways Avios for a round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with flights operated on American Airlines. Earlier this year, I wrote a post on How to Trip Plan A Quick Jaunt to Las Vegas On A Budget Using Miles And Elite Status. Just recently, American Airlines unveiled their new elite status cards. I always carry my American Airlines Executive Platinum card just in case I need to flash it and for wallet candy.
I’m staying at a Palazzo/Venetian property, so I will need to carry my Priority Club Platinum card for stay/night credits and elite benefits.
I carry my Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Identity membership card because I usually win at that hotel. I will use the card every time I place a sports bet or play blackjack. I’m not a big fan of slot machines, but I do love the Wheel of Fortune and “SPIN” type machines. I’m not a big fan of the mLife program even after the new Hyatt partnership with MGM Resorts. In June, I wrote how to Earn Hyatt Diamond Elite Status for $980 or Less at the Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas.
I always carry my Q Card from the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas so I can get into Marquee DayClub and Nightclub for free. It admits one person and a guest, so I never have to pay cover and never wait in line. The Q Card was a promotional item and is no longer attainable.
I always keep my previous hotel key cards just in case I might need them for future use. I’ve stayed at the Wynn and Encore Tower Suites a few years ago for free thanks to an American Express Platinum/Centurion promotion. Flashing your Tower Suites card can gain you access to the Valet when the lot is full. I’ve used this a handful of times and have also gained access to the hotel during New Years since only guests are allowed on the property.
On another occasion, I was upgraded to a Bellagio Spa Suite a few years ago and was given a VIP key card. To this day, I still keep this card just in case I need to flash it to the Valet when the parking lot is full. It can also gain entrance to the hotel during New Years when the hotel only allows theirs guests on the property.
Also, not shown in the picture is my Marriott Platinum Elite card that I recently “status challenged” a few days ago with a one minute phone call. I will be staying at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas and might need to flash my mobile “temporary card” to gain entrance to the VIP Lounge.
Also, not shown is my American Express Platinum charge card where I can use it to gain lounge access for $50 at the American Express Centurion Club Lounge at LAS Airport.
