American Airlines PVG-ORD 777-200 Business Class

After enjoying five nights and six days in Shanghai, I was exhausted and was ready to go back to the United States. In all honesty, six days was way too much for me to spend in one city. You do need a minimum of three full days to enjoy what Shanghai has to offer, but I was ready to depart on my flight from Shanghai to Chicago.

The Dragonair and Cathay Pacific Lounge at Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG) are located by gate 68 past the security checkpoint. This VIP Lounge is accessible for oneworld sapphire and emerald members travelling on an oneworld airline. You can also access this lounge if you’re travelling in Business or First Class.

I took the Maglev train from Longyang Road station and arrived in Shanghai Pudong airport in 8 minutes ready to check in at the American Airlines counter for my flight from PVG-ORD.

The seats in Business Class on the 777-200 are angled flat and comes with an American Airlines amenity kit, black slippers, pillow, and a blanket. In addition, each seat has its own in-flight entertainment.

During taxi and takeoff, I was offered the American Airlines Business Class menu with a wine list.

Shortly after takeoff, I was served a hot wet towel.

The flight attendant served hot warm mixed nuts along with a beverage of my choice. I usually order cranberry and vodka with lime, but I was not in the mood for drinking, so I just drank plain water with lemon.

To start, I was served Thai shrimp with daikon and a cucumber salad with tomato, caper, and olive dressing.

As the dinner entrée, I chose the Pan-fried Cod which was offered with lemon dill sauce, buttered broccoli and mushroom risotto. The cod was delicious and so was the mushroom risotto.

The best part of the meal was seeing the made to order ice cream sundae cart come out.

I always have my sundae with all the syrups and toppings. As one flight attendant calls it, “The works”.

After dinner, I watched a movie and knocked out on my angled flat bed. An hour and a half before arrival, breakfast was served.

For breakfast, I chose the spinach and Swiss omelette which was offered with chicken sausage and rosemary potatoes. The omelet was nothing to rave about, but the tomato with cheese and the sausage was delicious.
