The Sights and Sounds of Usaquen in Bogota

The Usaquen neighborhood is located north of Chapinero in Bogota, Colombia. Usaquen is mostly known as the Beverly Hills of Bogota because it’s a wealthy upper class neighborhood. I didn’t have a chance to properly check out the neighborhood, but went to a popular restaurant called Kathmandu located in Usaquen.

Kathmandu is a Buddha Bar with hookah and belly dancing. In addition, they do serve food and drink as well. The restaurant setting is basically separated into four large rooms, each with individual small and large tables, ideally for dates and large groups.

I ordered a few drinks and hookah which was $10 USD each and $25 respectively which is on par with US prices. Surprisingly, this was my first time trying out hookah and it was really nothing spectacular.

As you relax in your comfy table, belly dancers start to make their rounds into the room. I made a few videos of the male and female belly dancers:

This is definitely a cool restaurant to check out in Usaquen and was one of my highlights so far in Bogota nightlife. By the way, there is a small cover charge to get into the restaurant and you are given a wristband. When I tried to enter a nightclub later that evening in Chapinero, the bouncer noticed my wristband from Kathmandu and denied us entry. So beware, take off your wristband from Kathmandu when trying to enter popular nightclubs in Bogota as there seems to be nightclub ownership and patronage conflicts.
