As you may now have heard, Starwood is partnering up with Total Rewards (Caesar Entertainment Group). Bonnie, our Frugal Travel Lawyer brought the scoop out earlier today while I was sleeping. As you may know, I am a HUGE Starwood and Las Vegas fan. When the Hyatt/mLife announcement came around, I quickly posted a way on how to Earn Hyatt Diamond Elite Status for $980 followed by subsequent cheap deals on the Excalibur hotel here and here.
This generous Total Rewards/SPG promotion allows up to 10 nights a year to be credited towards your Starwood Status. What we want to do here is leverage getting the cheapest 10 nights possible. I found that Bally’s has the cheapest rate in Vegas within the Total Rewards Network. The most lenient promotion right now is the Stay 2 nights and get 20% off and a $35 food and beverage credit. Bear in mind that this promotion does not start until after January 9, 2014, so don’t book any hotels before that date.

Sign up for a free Totals Rewards account at www.totalrewards.com .
Sign up for a Starwood Account on www.spg.com if you haven’t already.

Booking process:
Log into your account at www.totalrewards.com and go to your profile.
You’ll currently see your tier status and the number of points associated to your account. Beneath that, you’ll want to click on “View Details”.
Then, find the green box that says “$$$ Check for promotions at this casino and save!”
At the next screen, you’ll want to click on the “Book 2 nights, get 20% off and a $35 F&B credit” promotion.
You’ll be able to pull up a calendar of dates and rates. Be aware that the cheapest days are usually Sunday-Thurs. Your best bets are always on Mondays and Tuesdays. Fridays and Saturdays are the most expensive days in Vegas.
As a sample date, I chose 2/10-2/12 with nightly rates of $39.20 + taxes and resort fee. The subtotal for the two nights comes out to $78.40. When you click “Book this room”, you’ll be brought up to the next screen where you will be given the total amount with taxes and the resort fee.
Conclusion
With 10 nights in 5 separate “two night” stays, you will be only paying $392 + taxes and receive $175 worth of food and beverage credit.
Real cost with taxes and resort fee: $640.65 for 10 nights at an average of $64.07 per night out the door which isn’t too bad for a night credit that earns you status. Bear in mind that you also got $175 worth of food and beverage credit.
Real cost with taxes and NO resort fee: You can theoretically eliminate the resort fee by complaining about the slow Wifi. The cost of 10 nights with the room and taxes without the resort fee comes out to $432 with a $175 food and beverage credit.
By the way, you will also be earning 2x Starpoints at Total Rewards properties, so you will earn a minimum of 787 Starpoints which is worth $23.52 to me @ 3cpp.
