A Quick Jaunt to San Antonio Texas Using AA miles, Avios and SPG Points

In November of last year, I took a last minute trip to San Antonio to see one of my closest friends. It was my first time in San Antonio and I was ecstatic. I booked a one way milesAAver award to SAT for 12,500 AA miles. On the return, I used 4,500 Avios points from SAT-DFW and 10,000 Avios from DFW-LAX. It’s a strange combination, but fares to San Antonio were really expensive and I have a boatload of Avios that I needed to burn.

I was really excited to travel through DFW Airport because of the newly opened American Express Centurion Lounge in Terminal D. I booked one night at the Westin Riverwalk hotel on cash and points located in the heart of downtown San Antonio.
