I booked the Sheraton Universal hotel in Los Angeles because I was hosting a little get together party and people didn’t want to drive home after a night out at Universal Citywalk. The rate was pricey at $165 plus taxes which came out to $190. Hotels in Los Angeles, California don’t come cheap during a weekday in a popular location. I’ve always wanted to try this place out since it was so close to home.
I self-parked at the hotel which was $15 for unlimited in and out privileges including overnight parking. This was in the first week of December, so the hotel was festive with Christmas decoration.
The front desk agent informed me that I was upgraded to a suite. I had already known that because I used a confirmed suite night award and it cleared five days prior to my arrival.
The suite was more like a Junior Suite because there was no separation between the bed and the living room. The suite contained a comfortable sitting area with a large work desk and a TV.
There was also a small dining table with chairs and a king size bed.
The bathroom was small, but functional and contained the usual Sheraton bath amenities.
The Club Lounge was the highlight of the stay because that meant that my friends and I could partake on complimentary snacks before a night of partying. The Club Lounge also had a computer workstation with a printer.
The evening appetizer buffet spread consisted of fried breaded mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, cheese and crackers, veggie tray, and delicious cookies.
There were also non-alcoholic beverages available including a hot water machine. Beer and wine are extra.
I had a little bit of everything and it was delicious.
I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this hotel because of the outrageous room rates, but I was fortunate to split the cost of the room with friends. I typically try not to spend more than $150 (taxes included) on a Sheraton property. It’s a shame this property doesn’t have one-bedroom suites as I’m not a big fan of Junior Suites, but I’ll make do of what’s available.
