Le Meridien Mexico City Hotel Review

It’s almost been a year since I last visited the Le Meridien Mexico City hotel and I wrote a review about it here. When I last visited in January of 2013, the hotel barely opened and there was much unknown about the property. I took the subway and got off at Juarez metro station. This is the closest metro station from the hotel and it’s a good 10 minute walk which isn’t too bad.

I booked the hotel using 5,000 Starpoints and $75 in cash during my 12 hour layover in Mexico City. My flight had arrived early in the morning and I was able to call the hotel and check in as early as 11am. To get to the front desk, you must check-in at the second level. I just absolutely love the big hanging balls from this hotel.

The front desk agent notified me that I would be upgraded to one of their best suites. Reminder: This hotel is an all-suites property. I really didn’t care about any type of upgrade at this point since I was so tired from my red-eye flight and I had just been hanging around Mexico City for 5 hours. At this point, I just wanted to take a shower, recharge, and take a quick nap. The agent handed me a complimentary drink coupon for Platinum guests which is good for any of their signature drinks.

I went over to the nearby bar area to redeem the coupon. You can choose from a large list of signature drinks.

I had the Caipirinha which was served with complimentary nuts.

Afterwards, I went up to my room and was pleasantly surprised at how big the suite was. The living room contained a small dining table with two chairs, TV, and sofa.

There was a wet bar area in between the living room and the bedroom. The wet bar area contained a sink, mini bar, coffeemaker, and a microwave.

The bedroom had a King bed, executive work desk, and a TV.

There is a sink located outside the bathroom.

The bathroom contained a sink and bathtub with a standing shower.

The Le Meridien hotel can be quite pricey, but well worth it if you have points to spare. It’s a luxurious hotel with amazing Platinum treatment. The location is great since it’s close to Centro and Zona Rosa. I would definitely stay here again if it was available on cash and points or a reasonable rate.
