American Airlines NRT-LAX 777-200 Business Class

My final journey back home was on American Airlines from Narita International Airport to Los Angeles (NRT-LAX). I was booked in economy, but I used a Systemwide Upgrade (eVIP, SWU) to upgrade myself to the Business Class cabin. My Systemwide Upgrade cleared a few days prior and was able to pre-select my meal. I wanted the coveted Japanese Meal which must be pre-ordered 24 hours before the scheduled flight.

American Airlines NRT-LAX 777-200 Business Class

The American Airlines Boeing 777-200 (772) is a 3 cabin plane with First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class. Boarding was very chaotic from the get-go.

The Business Class cabin on the Boeing 772 is a 2-3-2 configuration with angled-flat seating. I can’t believe this plane has a middle seat in the Business Class cabin.

AAnrtlax2

The angled-flat seat also had a pillow and a blanket.

The in-flight entertainment system is conveniently located right in front of you. The amenity kit with slippers was in the compartment besides me (not pictured).

AAnrtlax4

I was offered a pre-departure beverage and I selected the champagne.

The flight attendant came by the aisle and handed me the Business Class menu and it reads as follows:

Meal service started with a piping hot wet towel.

Hot mixed nuts were served along with a choice of beverage. I had the usual cranberry and vodka with lime.

The flight attendant advised me that I pre-selected the Japanese meal and handed me the menu which reads as follows:

For dessert, I had the ice cream sundae with a little bit of everything.

Breakfast consisted of an omelet with potatoes, sausage, tomato, fruit, and bread.

Service from the flight attendant was fantastic from the beginning to the end. My flight attendant was well aware of my needs such as topping off my cranberry and vodka and she made sure that I was taken care of. The Japanese meal was amazingly delicious and I highly recommend that you order this instead of the usual American entrees. Note that you must pre-order this “special meal” online 24 hours prior to departure or else you won’t get it.

As soon as I finished my dessert, I knocked out and was awoken up by the flight attendant for breakfast. I really dislike airline breakfasts because it’s always the damn omelet. If it’s not the omelet, it’s usually a pizza. Who wants to eat pizza for breakfast? Anyways, I always wake up for breakfast prior to arrival and take a picture of it just for the sake of the trip report. I really hope American Airlines gets rid of the 777-200 plane because it’s old, rickety, and frankly has a middle seat in Business Class which shouldn’t exist on any modern fleet.
