The Sights and Sounds of the Spice Souk in Dubai

As I’ve previously mentioned, Deira is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Dubai because it’s authentic Old Dubai. The Spice Souk is one of my favorite places in Deira because you can find everything here. Not only can you find spices at the Spice Souq, but also clothing, accessories, souvenirs, and trinkets.

After visiting downtown Deira and the Gold Souk, we walked over to the Spice Souk. The Spice Souk is actually newly renovated and is now called the Grand Souq “Deira” but mostly everyone still calls it the Spice Souq.

The Spice Souk is very aromatic due to many shops selling various spices.

You can also find textiles and traditional Arabic clothing for sale. Be sure to haggle your way to lower prices because you’ll always be quoted a ridiculous amount at first.

There are also shisha (hookah) water pipes for sale as well as ornate teapots.

The Spice Souk also has various vendors selling souvenirs aimed at tourists. This is the best place to buy souviners because prices are rock bottom after haggling. I bought a few shot glasses for $1-$2 and you won’t be able to find these prices at the Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, or the overpriced Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
