I was surprised when there was an executive lounge available at this hotel because most Westin’s have gotten rid of their lounges. It\u2019s always nice to have a place where Platinum guests can relax during the evenings. The lounge was available for evening appetizers and breakfast the next morning.<\/p>\n

The evening appetizer spread consisted of a full bar with hot and cold items.<\/p>\n

The hot items consisted of fried chicken (looked more like wontons) and Guatemala tacos (looks like a flauta).<\/p>\n

There were also desserts and whole fruits available.<\/p>\n

The breakfast buffet spread consisted of eggs, beans, bacon, potatoes, plantains, cold meats, cheeses, fruit, and various juices.<\/p>\n

I had a little bit of everything and didn\u2019t want to eat much because I wanted to have an authentic meal in the city during lunch.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend the Westin if you\u2019re staying in Guatemala City because it\u2019s only one of the few luxury hotels left in the area. The Westin Camino Real is located in Zona Viva which is the safest zone in Guatemala City. It\u2019s located far from Centro Guatemala City, but it\u2019s conveniently located near the airport and there are lots of restaurants, bars, and casinos around the hotel. The Platinum recognition at this hotel was amazing and the deluxe suite (more like a junior suite) was luxurious. The value can\u2019t be beat if you go with the cash and points route on this hotel because the room rates are usually over $150 a night+ tax.<\/p>\n
