I booked the Radisson Guatemala City hotel for 7,500 American Airlines AAdvantage miles on Useaamiles.com. The description on the rate said that the room type was a Junior Suite and that breakfast was included. This is a two part review where I will review the breakfast and summarize my overall experience in the next segment.<\/p>\n

The Radisson Guatemala City hotel is located in Zona Viva (Zone 10, the Entertainment zone) and it was only a five minute walk from the Westin Guatemala City hotel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lobby looked upscale and had plenty of plush seating.<\/p>\n

The front desk agent said that I was booked in a Junior Suite. I was also handed vouchers for one free drink (mojito) and breakfast. Since I was on a third party reservation, the hotel would not let me put in my Club Carlson Gold number to earn points for incidentals (not sure why).<\/p>\n

When I went up to my room, the room was not a Junior Suite, but looked more like a standard room. The room was small and cramped just like a standard room in Manhattan. There was nothing Junior Suite about that and I was re-checking the hotel\u2019s website<\/a> to confirm that. Yep, the Junior Suite on the website definitely did not look like the picture on the website.<\/p>\n

I called down to the front desk and explained that the room given to me was not the Junior Suite that I booked.<\/p>\n

The front desk agent said that the room is a Junior Suite and they call it like that because there\u2019s a couch next to the bed. It looked more like a chair for one person which was 1 foot away from the bed.<\/p>\n

I explained to him that it\u2019s clearly bait and switch on the website<\/a> and I would never have booked this room if it was standard room. He said that the manager would call me in 30 minutes. The manager agrees to change my room and I even showed him the correct Junior Suite on my phone with the description. Needless to say, he said that he would upgrade me to the suite shown on the website\u2019s picture<\/a>. (FYI: To this date, they still have not updated their website).<\/p>\n

The new room was so much better and spacious which looked exactly liked the website\u2019s description and picture of the Junior Suite. The room consisted of a couch with a coffee table, and two double beds. Fast internet Wi-Fi was also complimentary for all guests at the hotel.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was relatively small and contained standard Radisson bath amenities along with two complimentary bottles of water.<\/p>\n
