La Linea is one of Red Light Districts in Guatemala City. La Linea in Spanish translates to \u201cThe Strip\u201d which is basically a long street where Guatemalan women rent small shacks and sell themselves as prostitutes. Basically, this is an area of Guatemala City that is highly dangerous and I wanted to visit to see for myself what it\u2019s like.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not hard finding the La Linea neighborhood in Guatemala City which is located in Zona 1. If you can locate the railroad tracks next to the Edifio Central de la PNC building on Google Maps, then you have found the starting area.<\/p>\n

Be aware that the area around 12 Calle, between 13 and 15 Avenida is very desolate and I would be cautious about visiting this area during the night time.<\/p>\n

If you walk north of the railroad tracks from Edifio Central de la PNC, you will start to see a lot of Guatemalan police cars.<\/p>\n

Beyond this point is where the prostitutes hang out. I was scared of taking any pictures because of what had happened in Bogota’s Red Light District<\/a>. To recap, I basically took a pic of a brothel joint and a woman came up to me and wanted to see my phone. I told her that I will delete it and then she started to follow me. I was afraid her entourage would come after me, but she gave up and I walked away safely. Now I am wary of where to take pictures and where not to take pictures.<\/p>\n
