I\u2019m currently writing this from the American Airlines Admirals Club in Miami International Airport. I was quite disgusted when I left the plane. Here\u2019s what happened:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-departure drink<\/strong> \u2013 I was one of the last ones to board the plane because I had to take a shuttle bus to a remote gate all the way at Tom Bradley International Terminal. I was the last one to take a seat in the First Class cabin and was not offered a departure beverage even though I saw the open bottle of champagne just sitting in the galley. Everyone around me had a pre-departure beverage in hand. The plane was late to depart as well so there was ample time for the flight attendant to offer me a pre-departure beverage of some sort, but she didn\u2019t say a word.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Feet on the Bulkhead<\/strong> \u2013 I don\u2019t get why passengers place their bare feet on the bulkhead. It\u2019s quite disgusting and a major turn off in terms of in-flight ambiance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11497\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1.jpg\" alt=\"aalaxmia1\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1.jpg 480w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1-400x533.jpg 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1-200x266.jpg 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia1-150x200.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Food<\/strong> \u2013 No menus were handed which I thought was odd for a transcon flight, despite remembering there were three choices to choose from the online meal reservation system.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11498\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2.png\" alt=\"aalaxmia2\" width=\"806\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2.png 806w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2-300x138.png 300w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2-400x184.png 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2-200x92.png 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia2-150x69.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had totally forgotten what I had pre-ordered so the flight attendant had to repeat to me what the choices were. I went with the hot item (chicken) and it turned out to look like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11499\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3.jpg\" alt=\"aalaxmia3\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3.jpg 640w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-400x300.jpg 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-200x150.jpg 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-150x112.jpg 150w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-386x290.jpg 386w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-290x218.jpg 290w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia3-193x145.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was appalled at what was served which I found out was a Pumpkin Seed Crusted Breast of Chicken with brown butter sauce, served with sugar snap peas and sweet mashed potatoes. The soup was horrendous, the bread was cold, and the chicken had no flavor despite the dipping sauce. The dipping sauce was pretty much pure butter which I associate with lobster entrees. The peas and carrots were hard as a rock and were pretty much raw. This was easily the worst entr\u00e9e I\u2019ve ever had on American Airlines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dessert<\/strong> \u2013 No made to order ice cream sundae on this red-eye flight which I totally understand. There was only one choice and it was organic three twins sea salted caramel ice cream. Dessert was much better than the entr\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11500\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516.jpg\" alt=\"aalaxmia4\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516.jpg 480w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516-400x533.jpg 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516-200x266.jpg 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia4-e1401793938516-150x200.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Snack<\/strong> \u2013 There weren\u2019t any freshly baked on board cookies which are a signature item. The only thing that was offered was a whole fruit basket (not snack basket).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pre-arrival beverage<\/strong> \u2013 There was no signature sparkling water with a citrus fruit garnish as a pre-arrival beverage. Instead, the flight attendant handled out a cold beverage. I thought it was some sort of fruit juice at first but couldn\u2019t make it out in the dark. I was weary on what the mysterious drink was and it turned out to be a fruit and yogurt smoothie. I don\u2019t like yogurt so I almost barfed when I took a small sip.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11501\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5.jpg\" alt=\"aalaxmia5\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5.jpg 480w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5-400x533.jpg 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5-200x266.jpg 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/06\/aalaxmia5-150x200.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The service on board was pretty lackluster as expected on a red-eye (I don\u2019t blame them). This is quite the contrast from a <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/10\/06\/difference-business-first-class-american-airlines-jfk-lax-redeye-flight\/\" target=\"_blank\">LAX\/JFK transcontinental red-eye flight<\/a>. I really wish American would fly newer planes to Miami. Next time, I wouldn\u2019t count on having a decent meal onboard a Miami bound red-eye flight. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I love flying on American Airlines and their meals are excellent 99% of the time.
