One of things I\u2019ve always been told is that Singapore is the safest country in the world. I\u2019m so used to traveling to dangerous countries<\/a> in Latin America and I was really interested to see it with my own two eyes. One of the things plastered all over the Singapore\u2019s Changi International airport customs arrivals hall was a warning that read \u201cDeath penalty for drug trafficking\u201d and it\u2019s even printed on the embarkation card.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re arriving SIN airport at midnight, the only way you\u2019ll be getting to your hotel is by taxi. Taking a taxi in Singapore is pretty safe since everything is metered and regulated. You even get a printed receipt that is fully itemized line by line that clearly explains the kilometers and charges.<\/p>\n

The main touristy areas of Singapore are super clean. You won\u2019t see trash on the sidewalk or highways and it\u2019s forbidden to chew gum. You can be sent to jail for smuggling in packs of gum into Singapore, so don\u2019t even think about it.<\/p>\n

I spent a total of three nights and four days in Singapore and I felt pretty safe using the mass rapid transit (MRT) and the bus system. The MRT is clean and it\u2019s absolutely forbidden to consume food or drink in any of the stations and in the trains.<\/p>\n

Even the Red Light Districts such as Geylang<\/a> and Orchard Towers<\/a> is pretty safe during the day and night time.<\/p>\n

I did a fair share of walking during the day and night time where I did not feel threatened at all. Everyone is pretty friendly and minds their own business.\u00a0 Singaporeans are really proud of their country and can\u2019t say the same for crime ridden neighbor Malaysia.<\/p>\n
