I had the opportunity to visit the Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico (UNAM) which is located in the Mexico City neighborhood of Coyoac\u00e1n<\/a>. UNAM is one of the largest universities in Latin America and I visited the main campus located in Ciudad Universitaria (University City).<\/p>\n

I was meeting my friend Gaby for lunch who attends the National Autonomous University of Mexico, so I started to make my way there via the Mexico City metro. To reach the UNAM campus, you can either take the subway to Copilco station (North campus) or the Universidad station (South campus). I decided to get off at the Universidad metro station.<\/p>\n

There were multiple vendors outside the Universidad metro station selling school supplies, CDs, DVDs, and food.<\/p>\n

After a short walk across past the vendors, I arrived at the Southern entrance of UNAM.<\/p>\n

The campus was pretty large, but thankfully I had GPS on my iPhone to help me navigate my way around. I was greeted by a giant vertical steel cylindrical monument.<\/p>\n

I passed by several buildings including the Instituto de Matematicas (Math building).<\/p>\n

The center of campus had an outdoor fountain display and it\u2019s a great place for students to relax.<\/p>\n

Nearby was the Auditorio Sotero Prieto which is the school auditorium.<\/p>\n

I walked north towards the Biblioteca Central (Central Library) and passed by an large orange shaped monument.<\/p>\n

Walking through the UNAM campus is like hiking through a forest because there\u2019s so much greenery and the campus is pretty hilly. There were several areas on campus where kids can play soccer.<\/p>\n

I finally reached the Biblioteca Central which made UNAM a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Central library at UNAM holds one of the largest collections in all of Mexico.<\/p>\n

My friend Gaby was running a little late, so I decided to visit her dentistry class which was pretty exciting.<\/p>\n
