I booked the InterContinental Real San Pedro Sula Hotel using 7,800 American Airlines AAdvantage miles<\/a> on useaamiles.com. The going rate for this hotel was $200, so I definitely got more than 2cpm out of my American miles. I had called the property beforehand to add my IHG membership number to the 3rd party reservation. I had absolutely no status with IHG and I added my IHG number for free internet during my stay. Part 1 of this review will cover the hotel room portion and Part 2 will cover the Ambassador evening appetizers and Ambassador Club Lounge breakfast.<\/p>\n

There was absolutely no way of taking public transportation from San Pedro Sula International Airport to the InterContinental Real San Pedro Sula Hotel, so I had to suck it up for a $20 USD taxi. However, the hotel does provide a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel for a fee of $15.00 + 15% tax per person (more on that later).<\/p>\n

\"ICsanpedrosula1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

During check-in, I asked the agent if there were any suites available (I have no status with IHG) and she offered me a Junior Suite for free. This was the first time I had ever asked for any type of upgrade as a non-status member and I\u2019m glad I did. She also informed me that I had access to the Intercontinental Ambassador Club Lounge and the evening appetizers in the lobby restaurant.<\/p>\n

\"ICsanpedrosula2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The hotel does have a shuttle service to and from the airport. Service from the airport to the hotel is available \u201cOn Request\u201d, meaning you have to call them in advance to send a shuttle to pick you up from the airport. This service is $15.00 + 15% tax per person. From the hotel to the airport, the scheduled times are 5:15am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 12:15pm, 2:30pm, and 6:30pm. This service is $10.00 + 15% tax per person.<\/p>\n

I took a peek at the beautiful pool area before heading up to my room.<\/p>\n

The Junior Suite was located on the InterContinental Ambassador level and I was still in shock on how she gave me the suite for free as a non-status member (more on that later).<\/p>\n

The Junior Suite consisted of a large L-shaped sofa with lots of decorative pillows, a TV, large executive workdesk, and a King size bed.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was quite small and contained a single basin sink with a bathtub\/shower combo and a luxury bathrobe.<\/p>\n

I had views of the MultiPlaza Mall which was adjacent to the hotel and also a beautiful mountain view of San Pedro Sula.<\/p>\n
