When I stayed at the W Taipei Hotel<\/a>, I opted to walk 25 minutes to the Tonghua Night market instead of taking an 8 minute taxi cab ride. Out of the four night markets I\u2019ve visited in Taipei, my favorite one was the Tonghua Night Market in the Da\u2019an district. It\u2019s more of a hidden gem and mostly a locals only night market with tons of street food, shopping, and games.<\/p>\n

The Tonghua Night Market is not as touristy as the Shilin night market<\/a>, but it can get crowded with locals.<\/p>\n

The main attraction of the Tonghua Night Market is the vast array of food stall vendors.<\/p>\n

My first stop was a street food vendor selling fried squid on a stick. I haven\u2019t had that before, so I was eager to try it and it was delicious!<\/p>\n

My friend pressured me into trying out stinky tofu since I\u2019ve never had it before. I\u2019ve hesitated on trying the dish out many times because of the strong smell, but I just had to have it before leaving Taiwan. It was surprisingly good and there\u2019s no aftertaste of the stink.<\/p>\n

I also had other street food such as candied tomatoes and pig\u2019s blood cake on a stick which was also delicious.<\/p>\n

For dessert, I opted for a chilled sugar cane ice cream which was made from scratch. This was my first time ever having sugar cane ice cream and it was refreshing.<\/p>\n

I couldn\u2019t leave the night market without the infamous boba milk tea (pearl milk tea, tapioca milk tea). Boba vendors are practically on every street corner in Taipei and the balls are delicious to chew.<\/p>\n

In addition to food, you can also do a little shopping at the Tonghua Night Market.<\/p>\n

You can unwind the day by playing various carnival style games at the Tonghua Night Market.<\/p>\n

My favorite game is where you can choose from a variety of assault weapons to try and pop the balloons to win a prize.<\/p>\n
