As of June 22, 2014, the Westin Macau deflagged from the Starwood Hotels portfolio and is now called the Grand Coloane Resort Macau hotel. For all intents and purposes, I will still review the Westin Macau Resort hotel for trip report continuity. I booked the Westin Macau hotel on a Starwood Cash and Points rate of 3,500 Starpoints and $55 in cash.<\/p>\n

When I landed at the Outer Ferry Terminal in Macau, the complimentary shuttle to the Westin hotel was nowhere to be found. It was 11:30pm and after waiting for half an hour close to midnight, I decided to call it quits since it was raining pretty heavily. I decided to take a 155 HKD ~ $20 USD taxi to the Westin Macau hotel which was a 18 minute ride.<\/p>\n

I arrived to the hotel at 12:20am and wanted to check in as quickly as possible. The front desk agent was polite and upgraded me to a Junior Suite from a Superior room. The agent advised me that internet was complimentary for Platinum guests and I chose breakfast at the hotel as my SPG Platinum amenity.<\/p>\n

I complained to the agent about the shuttle and he apologized about the mishap since the last shuttle left before 11:30pm. He also handed me a card and advised me that the Westin hotel offers complimentary shuttle buses to Cotai Strip (The Venetian) and Taipa Island. Furthermore, the hotel also operates a shuttle bus every 30 minutes from the Macau Ferry Terminal to the Westin and vice versa.<\/p>\n

The Junior Suite was basically an oversized room that had a TV, executive workdesk, King size bed, and a sleeper chair. I would think a Junior Suite would have some sort of sofa with seating for two, but I didn\u2019t care too much since I was only spending one night in Macau.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was small, yet ergonomic, and contained the usual Westin bath amenities. There was also a bathrobe along with a bathtub and standing shower.<\/p>\n

The best part about the room was the beautiful outdoor balcony with seating for two overlooking the South China Sea.<\/p>\n

I had breakfast the next morning at the lobby restaurant and the buffet spread consisted of bacon, sausage, hash browns, tomatoes, vegetables, baked beans, fried rice, noodles, waffles, French toast, pancakes, and hardboiled eggs.<\/p>\n

There was also a station for congee (jook) and dim sum.<\/p>\n

There was also a salad bar with deli meats, cabbage, corn, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, salad, and carrots.<\/p>\n

There was also a made to order omelet station with various toppings and you can also order eggs any style from the cook.<\/p>\n

In addition, there was a cereal bar along with milk and fruit juices. Soft drinks were available from the waiter.<\/p>\n

I was super hungry and I had a little bit of everything which was delicious.<\/p>\n

I also ordered sunny side up eggs which I topped with mozzarella cheese.<\/p>\n

The food was so good that I went back for seconds and grabbed my favorites such as fried rice, dim sum, and a Chinese tamale.<\/p>\n

I had a fantastic time at the hotel (albeit short) despite the shuttle mishaps. The breakfast was excellent and the room was clean. When I went to check-out early in the morning, the same front desk agent was still there and apologized about the shuttle situation again. I inquired about the shuttle to the Macau Outer Ferry Terminal and he said that I had to reserve it in advanced. He said the shuttles were full for the next hour and I displayed my disappointment.<\/p>\n

When he saw my disappointed facial expression, he quickly called the hotel\u2019s own car driver to personally take me to the Macau Ferry Terminal. I was instantly satisfied that the front desk agent took the initiative to correct the situation. It was a quick 15 minute ride to the Outer Ferry Terminal with no traffic in the hotel\u2019s Jeep. I\u2019m still sad to hear that the Westin Macau is no longer a\u00a0Starwood property.<\/p>\n
