One of my favorite things to do is eat and I wanted to take advantage of my short <17 hour layover in Tokyo, Japan. Since I was only in Tokyo for less than a day, this is not a comprehensive list of things to eat in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

One of my first eats when arriving at Tokyo Station was at a Yoshinoya.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t your typical United States Yoshinoya fast food restaurant which I absolutely avoid back home. There\u2019s quick table service along with many dining options on the menu.<\/p>\n

I had the famous Beef Bowl with miso soup and a side dish which was delicious. The beef bowl tasted nothing like the junk that was served at a U.S. Yoshinoya restaurant. People actually line up here in Tokyo to eat at Yoshinoya because it\u2019s convenient and it\u2019s that<\/em> good.<\/p>\n

The next morning, I had half of the day left before my flight to Los Angeles, so I wanted to eat as much as my stomach could take. In the Harajuku<\/a> neighborhood, I went to a fast food restaurant Lotteria for a light breakfast.<\/p>\n

I wanted to see what a burger tasted like in Tokyo and it was nothing to write home about.<\/p>\n

I was still hungry, so I went to the nearest restaurant in Harajuku<\/a> for some Japanese comfort food. I ordered Tonkatsu with egg over rice which came with shredded cabbage and soup for 380 Yen ~ $3.20.<\/p>\n

In between breakfast and lunch, I went to a local Japanese 7-11 style convenience store for a snack. I had teriyaki beef skewer, but I should\u2019ve gotten a pre-packaged sushi.<\/p>\n

I washed it down with an iced coffee from Pronto Caffe and Bar.<\/p>\n

I was missing sushi and noodles but I was running out of time for both so I had to pick one or the other. I couldn\u2019t find a sushi restaurant nearby, so I went with the latter. I found a small hole in the wall noodle shop in Shinjuku<\/a> and ordered a small bowl of Udon noodles which came with complimentary hot green tea. This was delicious and definitely hit the spot for a quick lunch before my flight back to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
