Hotels were ridiculously expensive and mostly sold out in Belo Horizonte during the World Cup match days. I was fortunately lucky to find a hotel in downtown Belo Horizonte called the Estoril Hotel for 160.02 BRL ~ $56.45 USD per night which wasn\u2019t too bad at all. I stayed for three nights and the rate included free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast.<\/p>\n

I took a Conexao Aeroporto executive bus from Belo Horizonte\u2019s Tancredo Neves International Airport to Avenida \u00c1lvares Cabral which was located in Centro (City Center) Belo Horizonte. I took a 5 minute cab ride from Avenida \u00c1lvares Cabral to the Estoril Hotel because I was in a rush (otherwise I\u2019d walk). I advised the cab driver to please wait for me while I check in since I was in a rush to attend the Colombia v. Greece World Cup match at Mineirao Stadium.<\/p>\n

Hotel check-in was a breeze and a friendly employee kindly showed me to my room. The room was pretty small with a queen bed, mounted flat screen TV, and a mini fridge.<\/p>\n

On top of the mini fridge were reasonably priced savory snacks and alcoholic spirits. There was also a multitude of reasonably priced soft drinks and alcoholic beverages inside the mini-fridge.<\/p>\n

There was also a large closet in addition to a small desk.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was small and basic with a single basin sink and a standing shower.<\/p>\n

Breakfast was complimentary and held daily in the hotel\u2019s main restaurant. It was buffet style with a variety of hot selections, cold deli meats, cheeses, and bread. There was also fruit juice, milk, water, and coffee available.<\/p>\n

I had scrambled eggs with sausage and pao de queijo (cheese bread) which was delicious.<\/p>\n

There was a large variety of local Brazilian breakfast pastries and I tried one of each.<\/p>\n

Overall, I was happy with the Estoril Hotel because of the excellent service provided and its located cannot be beat. It\u2019s basically located in the heart of downtown Belo Horizonte where it\u2019s walking distance to many attractions. Although the Wi-Fi was complimentary and fast, I had to obtain a one-time use code that was valid for 6 hours at a time. It was quite annoying to go back and forth to the front desk so they could produce a new code, but it is what it is. It\u2019s not a 5 star hotel by any means, but the rooms were clean and the service was superb which is what I look for in a budget hotel.<\/p>\n
